How to talk with kids about the climate crisis, build your family's emotional resilience & find youth-friendly climate action

Wise Parenting for Uncertain Times

Children tether us to the future. And it is our job to help them feel safe in the world. Yet how do we offer security when the future is so uncertain?  How can we speak with kids about the climate crisis in age-appropriate ways? Should we involve kids in climate activism, or will that place too big a burden on them? How can our understanding of children’s emotions help them to adapt? What does family-friendly activism look like? In this workshop we’ll explore answers to these questions with a developmental lens so you can show up for kids with wisdom and resilience in uncertain times. Available as a 1, 1.5 or 2-hour workshop. Contact Teddy to schedule this workshop online or in-person for your school, organization or community.

“This workshop exceeded my expectations by offering valuable insights into child psychology and equipping me with essential tools to communicate with children of different ages about the climate crisis. The content was well-structured and thoughtfully presented, ensuring that every attendee left with a better understanding of how to address this pressing issue with the next generation.

I appreciated the workshop's ability to provide practical guidance and foster meaningful discussions. It not only met my expectations but also left me feeling more confident in my ability to navigate this challenging conversation with my child.

I wholeheartedly recommend this workshop to other parents and caregivers who, like me, want to engage their children in meaningful discussions about climate change. It equips you with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate this crucial topic.”

As we move through deeply uncertain times, how do we develop the resilience we need to navigate wisely in our jobs, our families and our communities? How can we live with open eyes and open hearts and not become overwhelmed by the losses and suffering we face? The first answer is that we must learn how to move through difficult feelings like grief, disappointment, anger, and frustration to prevent overwhelm and burnout. And the second answer is that we must learn how our nervous systems react to crises, in order to acquire healthy coping strategies. The third answer is that we must discover meaningful ways of being & more purpose during these wild times. This workshop is an experiential exploration, featuring neuroscience-based practices, journaling, grounding exercises, and chances to share with one another. Available as a 1, 1.5 or 2-hour experience. Contact Teddy to schedule this workshop online or in-person for your school, organization or community.

I LOVED EVERYTHING - I did not realize we would experience so much. It deeply filled my cup...Teddy was a great leader.”

“The session was very calming and inclusive. I am happy to have been welcomed into a safe space to talk about addressing ‘when the world is wild.’ Loved the strategies to calm the mind and refocus! I also enjoyed learning more about the brain.”

“I thought it was great. I appreciated the guided meditation. I will be able to better take care of my mind, which will translate in my workplace.”

“I liked the flow of the presentation. The information was shared in a clear manner. She brought a calmness to her presentation. My biggest takeaway from that session will be practice#5 (the power of awe). I'm not good at slowing down (i.e. meditating, journaling) but I think that taking 10 seconds and admiring something around me, or something in each one of my classrooms is actionable and doable. This will allow me to focus on the positives.”

“Very great impact - enjoyed the calming session. I will incorporate more mindfulness into my teaching.”
